Let me introduce myself. My name is Sam Nestler, the Beat Writer for Dallas Hockey Now. 

I grew up as most hockey fans did: driving over an hour at 5 a.m. and lacing up the skates in a freezing rink just to get thirty minutes on the ice. Since I was eight years old, hockey has been my life. From playing through college to NHL fandom and eventually my career as a writer and analyst, it is all I ever wanted to do. 

What makes me different? I have lived it along with you. After attending my first hockey game: Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final between the New Jersey Devils and Dallas Stars at the Continental Airlines Arena in 2000, my Dad asked me: “Who was your favorite player?” When I responded “Mike Modano” rather than one of his favorite Devils on the hometown team, my destiny was set and my fandom of the Stars had begun. 

Following this team for over 20 years, I have learned so much. From the glory days to bankruptcy and even Jaromir Jagr, this franchise has kept me intrigued. Now, I bring my expertise to a platform that features Hall-of-Fame writers, a partner that you will be excited about (wink), and a desire to do it right.
