Dallas has been skating with only 12 forwards while at home but needed an extra skater ahead of their five-game Eastern road swing starting on Monday in Pittsburgh.
Tufte has been a dominant player lately in the AHL. In the last nine games, the former first-round pick has racked up five goals and six assists. He now has 16 points in 21 games this season for the Texas Stars.
In the NHL, Tufte has not yet gotten his long look. The 24-year-old made his debut in 2021-22, playing in 10 games overall. He recorded his first and only NHL goal against the Nashville Predators on March 6.
Dallas will travel to Pittsburgh, New Jersey, Washington, Carolina, and Columbus on their current road trip. it is their longest trip of the season so far.
